SFN Ethernet Switches

The new SFN switches can be used to extend Ethernet networks easily and cost-effectively. Quality of Service (QoS) ensures that high priority data is delivered consistently and predictably, a feature not found in any other industrial unmanaged switch in the market.

The new SFN 5- and 8-port switches provide low-cost, fully industrially hardened, entry-level switch functions with five or eight ports (10/100 Mbps) in a narrow housing width. These include a complete range of 100Mbps glass fibre configurations which support SC or ST style connectors.

In addition, Phoenix Contact now offers 8 port combinations of 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit performance switches, a feature not found in most unmanaged Industrial Ethernet switches.

Each SFN switch includes the unique ability to add optional security frames that can be used to block unused RJ45 ports and lock in existing cables. This “physical layer 1” security restricts network access by unauthorised personnel, and yet is easy for plant floor personnel to implement.

For added performance in times of heavy network traffic, all SFN switches have the ability to read “Quality of Service” prioritized messages and process critical control messages before normal priority messages. The new SFN switches, combined with the current SF switch product line, provide the widest breadth of cost-effective Ethernet available today.

Features & Benefits

• Universal use in switch cabinets and junction boxes with its slim housing design
• Compliant with IEC-61.000-4 for noise immunity, shock and vibration requirements
• 24 VDC, DIN rail mountable, pluggable connector
• Five or eight Ethernet ports with Fibre Optic options in either SC or ST connection technology
• Auto-negotiation function for transmission rates of 10/100 MBit/s in hybrid operation
• Auto-crossing function: Differentiate is not required between crossover cable and straight through cable (1:1)
• Quality of Service (QoS) ensures that high priority data is delivered consistently and predictably. This feature is unique amongst industrial unmanaged switches
• Reads pre-prioritized messages compatible with IT standard IEEE 802.1p message prioritization. Suitable for Profinet applictions
• “Layer 1” Port Security prevents easy access by blocking unused ports

• CE, cUL, Class 1, Div 2
