This includes the S15C series of in-line converters, which are compact, plug-on modules that are designed to make conversion of condition monitoring and process sensors easier, which enables initiatives for overall equipment effectiveness, or OEE.

 

A boon to predictive maintenance and operational improvement, these Banner modules seamlessly fit into factory applications to convert Modbus sensor data and analog sensor signals into digital IO-Link information.

 

Simplifying deployment of sensors

 

The S15C series is recommended for condition monitoring, remote monitoring, and other tasks in which IO-Link systems are added to production lines or processes for OEE purposes or in which the digital value of an analog sensor must be communicated through IO-Link. These in-line converters are perfect for users who use IO-Link to enable OEE analytics, but have remote pockets in which important equipment has to be constantly monitored. The S15C series can be used at the end of a Modbus communication line, closer to the IO-Link Master, so the 20-metre line constraint is not a factor. The converters simplify sensor deployment to access data that is crucial to OEE initiatives.

 

Advanced Motion & Controls carries 20 models of these in-line converters, including several Modbus-to-IO-Link converters that can be used with Banner Modbus sensors for vibration/temperature, temperature/humidity, ultrasonic applications, measuring light curtains, and GPS. The others are analog sensor models that can convert DC signals (4-20 mA or zero to ten volts) to digital values and recast them as IO-Link data.

 

Small, rugged housing for simple installation is another benefit. The S15C series is built to plug into sensors directly and begin functioning immediately. The compact, 15-millimetre tubular design and M12 connectivity enables simple function in tight, space-constrained deployment. Every unit also uses the same power supply that the sensor uses, which simplifies wiring. The over-moulded IP68 housing guarantees dependable performance, even in challenging conditions.
